What is TTS (Text-to-Speech)?

TTS is the ability of the operating system to play back printed text as spoken words. An internal driver, called a TTS engine, recognizes the
text and using a synthesized voice chosen from several pre-generated voices, speaks the written text. A TTS engine is installed with the
operating system. Additional engines are also available through third-party manufacturers. These engines often use a certain jargon or
vocabulary; for example, a vocabulary specializing in medical or legal terminology. They can also use different voices allowing for regional
accents such as British English, or speak a different language altogether such as German, French, or Russian. - Microsoft Corporation

Is TTS supported in any of the TasTec Inc. product offerings?

TasTec Inc. offerings include products that use TTS (Text-to-Speech) technology in it's applications. Some examples of these products are
the
VG Assistant - Automated/Predictive Dialers and the VG Client - Unified Desktop Messaging, both being modules of the VG ICS
(Integrated Communications Server) system. The modules of the
VG ICS system will support 2 types of TTS engines - Microsoft TTS, such
as "Anna" or "Sam", which come free with Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems, and AT&T Natural Voices™ "Crystal", which
can be purchased as an upgrade for better quality
(ask a TasTec Inc. Product Specialist for pricing details).

The
VG Assistant - Automated/Predictive Dialing series of modules have the capacity to extract text information from a CRM, ERP or DBMS
based source file, and broadcast text information using a synthesized voice from a TTS engine and combine it with a prerecorded voice
message. For example: during an active dialing campaign, the call respondents will hear a TTS synthesized voice announcement of
relevant information addressed to the intended recipient (such as name, address, contact number, etc), prior to hearing the prerecorded
voice correspondence message.

The
VG Client - Unified Desktop Messaging module has the capacity to convert instant text messages to speech up to 2,000 characters. The
recipient of the instant message will simultaneously receive a screen pop of the text message, while hearing a TTS synthesized voice
announcing the text message. The
VG Client also has a Call Screening feature that converts caller ID information to speech. The recipient of
the phone call will simultaneously receive a screen pop of the caller ID information, while hearing a TTS synthesized voice announcing the
caller's information, prior to ringing the recipient's phone set.
